Two Day with The Germs

Welly Welly Well, these past 2 days have been absolutely insane! Lets start from the beginning. So I woke up Tuesday morning at 7:00am to get ready, josh picked me up at 8:30 and we went to pick up Ryan. We were soon on the freeway turns out to be we got stuck in traffic because of an over turned truck. And then finally we made it to West Hollywood. They weren’t letting us in just yet so we walked down to grab some grub at taco bell. It was the only play they had to eat in town. So we found a nice shady area to sit and eat. Fuck it was hot as hell! After about a good half hour we went back to the studio. There I met Frank for the first time in person <333! He's such a sweet heart. And I got check and searched by security and all that shit..So they rounded us all up and took us to a tent and said this is were you'll wait until we need you. When I walked in it was soooooooo hot I was like wtf???? Were going to die in here! Are they trying to kill us? Are they really this cruel? But then the lady saw how hot it really was in there and let us tear off the sides so that it was just a normal tent to give us shade from the scorching sun. We sat there and mingled with kids, talked about were we were from, music, you know the general shit. And then Bill and Pat Smear came out to say hi and just talk to us, it was awesome! About half an hour later Bill came back out and checked all of us out (clothing wise) he said he didn’t want another Sid and Nancy. Quite a few kids had screened t-shirts so those had to be turned inside out, because then there were no screened t-shirts in ‘79 and some kids were taken to wardrobe and changed into totally different clothes. I guess to give it that "authentic" look. They actually loved my shirt, because it was homemade and he said homemade clothes were the thing back then. It was the Germs circle (josh spray painted it and I chopped it up) they absolutely loved it! They thought I had stolen it from wardrobe! As we sat and waited we had met this kid named Harley and his friend (I forgot his name) there just happen to be in town, here from AZ and Bill saw Harley and totally flipped out I guess Harley is the spitting image of Bill when he was around 15..And we just happen to be re-creating the scene from Decline of Western Civilization. Where 2 kids from the crowd run up on stage and write on Darby’s back. And in Decline of Western Civilization bill is one of those kids who writes “Test Pat” on Darby’s back and then another kid writes a swastika on him. Well they had Bill’s original clothes from the movie and put them on Harley and he played Bill and had to run up on Stage and write “Test Pat” on Shane’s (Darby Crash) back and they pick my friend Ryan to be the other random kid who wrote the swastika on him. Now when they both go up, you’ll see me in a spray painted Germs shirt (LOOK FOR ME!) and we shot the same scene about 25 times! It was driving us crazy! Later on I did another scene were it’s before the show and you see like the crew setting up and you’ll see josh hit shoulders with another guy and it’ll look like there going to get in a fight but they don’t and then you’ll see me walk across bumping into people. That was it for Tuesday, they wanted me to stay for another scene were Darby gets In a fight with the surf Nazis but it went until midnight, so we couldn’t do it. Thankfully Josh had an aunt in Monrovia so we had to find a ride over there some how. Just as we were about to give up some like 45 year old old school punk guy offered us a ride to Pasadena so we went he was cool as fuck! And from Pasadena we walked down Colorado St. We had to call Josh’s aunt to pick us up from there because it was about a 3 hour walk to her house! We would have never made it alive! So when we finally got there she had set up a tent for us in the backyard. I couldn’t wait to go to sleep it had been a long ass day and I was tired, unfortunately I was still on an adrenaline rush and I couldn’t shut up! So me and josh talked until 2:00am, lucky boy Ryan had fallen asleep in an instant. Finally me and josh had pissed each other off and we both fell asleep. I woke up a lot during the night. I finally awoke at 8:00am(perfect timing) it was super hot in the tent so I went inside and got ready to leave, We left around 8:30 and walked a mile and a half looking for the 187 bus to the Gold line Metro Station. We finally found it and it picked us up at 9:30am We got to the station around 10:00 and it took us to the Union Station and then we took the Subway to the Vermont/Beverly and we walked 3 miles in the fucking heat to get to the Studios. We got there around 12:30 and there were a lot more kids than the day before, but most of the kids was were “fashion-core” punks. Yucky!(and the only reason I say that toward fashion punks is because there are stuck up brats, that think their punk(which most aren’t) Me and josh made a bet as to how many of then were going to be taken to wardrobe and I won. More than half of the idiots had to be changed, cause they don’t know shit about ‘79 And the thing that really pissed me off were the kids that came, the majority of then didn’t even like the Germs!!!! There were just there to try and get there face in it. I know kids who are die hard fans who would have killed to be in this movie and the people who got in were a bunch of stuck up pricks. Fucking sucks!!! Yeah so Wednesday was pretty much another set of the Germs but in this one, there are 2 fight scenes between HB punks and LA punks and Darby gets hit in the head with a beer bottle. I think Wednesday was a lot better than Tuesday, cause be didn’t have to do sooo many takes and it went by faster. Around 7:30 we had to leave the shoot and we hade to run to try and made the train back to the union station, unfortunately I didn’t get to say thank you to Frank for everything he’s done to help me. I was in such a rush to make the train. We had to run 3 miles! Thankfully we made the train to la with time to spare until the last train home. We frantically searched for a place to eat, cause we hadn’t eaten all day but there was nothing in sight so we headed back to the station and boarded the train back to Lancaster we all sat up top on the second story and waited for the 2 hour ride to end, I was so happy when I got home cause I was ready to sleep. When I got home I took some Tylenol pm because the ear infection which I acquired the Tuesday morning was killing me, I went to sleep around 1:30 and slept till 2:30pm. So over all I think it was an experience of a life time, and it turns out to be that Shane West did a good job portraying Darby Crash(surprisingly) and the whole cast and crew were all so nice and thankful to us for coming out to be in the film. The actor were totally cool, nice and easy going, down to earth people. Hopefully ill be going back for the recreating of a Black Flag performance. I’d give anything to do it all over again!(and thats not the WHOLE story)
